Paul Revere Middle School
|
Although the Palisades Fire left Paul Revere Charter Middle School structurally unharmed, because of the proximity of the campus to the burn scar, and out of an abundance of caution, Los Angeles Unified commissioned a battery of rigorous tests to measure the environmental safety on both campuses.
Current as of 3/7/25
Summary of Testing Results
Preliminary soil and wipe sampling data collected at both Canyon Charter Elementary School and Paul Revere Charter Middle School appear to show no impacts from the fire, or are at levels that are above safety thresholds. The data is currently being checked for quality assurance and control in addition to undergoing other standard data review. Once completed, a third-party consultant will issue their final report. The screening for carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, volatiles, and particulates showed no issues or exceedances.
What is Being Tested/Sampled
Environmental consultants collected samples at both Canyon Charter Elementary School and Paul Revere Charter Middle School and analyzed them for various metals and chemicals (see list below). The results from this phase of testing demonstrated that no additional testing was needed.
- Analysis was performed for constituents such as Antimony (Sb), Arsenic (As), Barium (Ba), Beryllium (Be), Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Cobalt (Co), Copper (Cu), Lead (Pb), Molybdenum (Mo), Nickel (Ni), Selenium (Se), Silver (Ag), Thallium (Tl), Vanadium (V), Zinc (Zn), and Mercury (Hg), Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), and Asbestos.
- Indoor air was also screened for carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and volatiles. A survey for particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) was also conducted.
